Rubik’s Craft to switch over to Fabric

Sunday, January 30th, 2022 (UPDATED: February 6th, 2022)

It’s official - Rubik’s Craft has switched to fabric. This Week on Rubik’s Craft editor mbr_2020 got to experience the switch first hand, all throughout testing stages.

“It was really amazing to see things come together as a tester, said mbr_2020, test dummy and reporter. “There were some bumps along the way, but other than that, things went swell!”

The Weekly also spoke to Nate regarding his side of the switch, he told us that he was “shattered from clicking the reset button”.

As per the agreement, mbr_2020 also cleaned up the sign protest at Nates base, signifying that the switch has officially come and the protests worked, and can end.

Over the past few weeks, Rubik’s Craft players have expressed their opinions on the client used to host Rubik’s Craft. At server owner Nate's base, signs and armour stand demonstrations were set up, giving reasons to switch from the current Paper build to a claimed ‘better’ Fabric client. However, according to Nate, the final nails in Paper on Rubik’s coffin have been set, and assuming things go well, the switch could happen in the next few weeks.

This news will be a long awaited update for server members, who have long been advocates for Fabric. Some members have expressed that Fabric will fix lag issues when logging on, allow certain farms to function better, and for the better Proximity Mod to be enabled.

No word yet on an exact date for when Fabric will roll out, but assuming things go well, next week is a candidate.
